Introduction
If you’ve ever dreamed of combining driving skills with aviation operations, the CSA/Driver role at Air Chefs SOC Ltd offers you exactly that. As part of a respected airline catering and hospitality company, you’ll play a vital role in delivering meals, beverages, and catering equipment to aircraft, ensuring the smooth handover to cabin crew. This is a chance to work at the intersection of transport, food handling, and aviation safety—gaining experience in aircraft operations and the airline company environment. For someone ready to take on responsibility, this job is a unique way to grow within the aviation and catering space.
About the Role
As a CSA/Driver, you’ll be responsible for assembling flights and overseeing the movement of catering materials in line with strict client specifications. You will collect loading schedules, inspect vehicles, load and deliver trolleys and equipment, and perform safety checks. On the ramp side, you’ll strip aircraft of used equipment, load new trolleys according to flight schedules, and ensure all menu specifications match client requirements. You’ll also maintain communication with operations teams during your shift, operate hydraulic hoist systems, and unload or recycle equipment as needed. Every step must comply with aviation protocols, food hygiene, HACCP food safety regulations, and safety in aviation standards.
Who Should Apply
This role is ideal for someone with a passion for aviation and logistics, geared toward hands-on action. If you enjoy driving, loading operations, and keeping to tight timelines, you’ll likely thrive as a CSA/Driver. You should be someone who can stay calm under pressure when flight schedules change. You’ll interact with kitchen, operations, and ramp teams, so good communication is key. If you’re ready to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays, and you want to develop your experience in aircraft operations, this is a strong fit for you.
Skills & Requirements
To be successful, you’ll need the following:
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent
- Valid Code 10 driving license plus a valid PDP
- At least 3 years’ experience in in‑flight loading or related duties
- Practical training or familiarity with aircraft operations and load configurations
- Willingness to undergo training in ACSA ramp safety standards and security protocols
- Willingness to complete internal HACCP and food safety training
- Strong communication, time management, and decision-making skills
- Ability to follow safety policies and work independently when needed
- Punctuality, accuracy, adaptability, and team spirit
Because the role sits at the intersection of transport and catering, experience or interest in logistic supplies, flight schedule coordination, or airline company operations is an advantage.
Benefits
Working at Air Chefs gives you real exposure to a major player in airline catering, which strengthens your resume in both aviation and food service sectors. You’ll work in a regulated environment where you develop knowledge of safety in aviation, food safety regulations, and operational discipline. While the contract is fixed-term, the hands-on experience and networking opportunities may open doors to longer-term roles in aircraft operations, ramp services, or logistics. You’ll also get the satisfaction of playing a critical role in ensuring flights depart with everything needed for a successful service.
