About the Role
The Millwright position at Weir Minerals is responsible for maintaining and repairing all electrical (both light and heavy current) and mechanical systems across the Isando site. This includes facilities such as the Foundry, Machine Shop, and Rubber Plant.
Key responsibilities include:
- Breakdown support: Attend to machinery failures and provide rapid, accurate repairs.
- Preventative maintenance: Ensure scheduled inspections and repairs are conducted on time.
- PLC Programming: Basic configuration and automation of production systems.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all repairs and installations meet SANS 10142 standards.
- CMMS Reporting: Complete job cards and feedback reports digitally.
You’ll work closely with fellow artisans, production staff, and planners, often taking on mentoring responsibilities with apprentices and contributing to a team-based environment.

Skills & Requirements
- Qualification: Certified Millwright (minimum 5 years’ experience)
- Education: N3 Electrical/Mechanical (Required), N6 or Diploma (Preferred)
- Licenses & Training: PLC basics, Working at Heights, Forklift, Confined Spaces, Medium Voltage Switching
- Experience: Knowledge of CNC, conventional machines, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems
- Computer Skills: SAP, Microsoft Office
- Machine Knowledge: Experience with foundry machinery, level sensors, pressure sensors, safety devices
Experience in industrial automation and the ability to interpret and create engineering drawings are key to succeeding in this role. A deep understanding of machine safety standards is also required.
