Introduction
Looking for a purpose-driven career in risk management and workplace safety? Peace Parks Foundation is hiring a Risk and Safety Co-ordinator, and this could be your chance to make a meaningful impact. With a focus on both conservation and compliance, this role lets you work at the intersection of environmental protection and occupational safety — all while contributing to one of southern Africa’s most ambitious cross-border conservation efforts.
Whether you’re experienced in implementing a workplace safety plan or developing a health and safety management plan, this opportunity offers growth, travel, and the chance to truly make a difference.
About the Role
As the Risk and Safety Co-ordinator, you’ll work directly with the Risk and Compliance Manager to identify and assess workplace risks, update safety policies, and support field teams across southern Africa. This includes facilitating risk identification and assessment workshops, enforcing compliance regulations, and ensuring legal alignment across all project sites.
Your work will span office environments and remote conservation areas, contributing to a safer, more sustainable future for both employees and wildlife. The position also involves updating risk assessment and risk management documentation and coordinating health and safety audits across various departments and parks.
Who Should Apply
This position is ideal for someone passionate about nature and experienced in risk management in the workplace. If you’re analytical, proactive, and confident in managing safety teams across diverse cultures, this role could be perfect for you. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in both structured office settings and unpredictable field conditions — someone who can spot hazards in a conservation landscape as easily as in a corporate office.
If you’ve ever wanted to align your skills with a mission that matters, Peace Parks Foundation is the place for you.
Skills & Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in occupational health and safety, preferably in conservation, agriculture, or manufacturing
- National diploma or degree in SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality)
- First Aid certification; ISO system experience is an advantage
- Excellent knowledge of compliance laws and local legislation in southern Africa
- Strong facilitation skills for risk assessment workshops
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for safety reports and presentations
- Ability to travel up to 40% of the time to project sites
- Clear understanding of risk identification in risk management
Benefits
Peace Parks Foundation offers more than just a job — it provides a chance to make a real difference in the world. You’ll be part of a respected organisation known for large-scale conservation projects and sustainable development across Africa. The role comes with a competitive salary and the chance to work remotely if you prefer.
You’ll also enjoy working with multidisciplinary teams across borders, receiving ongoing support for professional development, and gaining exposure to some of the most unique conservation sites on the continent. Plus, your work will directly influence improved workplace health and safety for communities and ecosystems alike.
