About the Role
The role focuses on ensuring the protection of raw water quality in critical catchment areas through scientific data collection, environmental assessments, and GIS-based analysis. Graduates will actively support water sustainability efforts by engaging in fieldwork, data modelling, and environmental reporting.

Skills & Requirements

- Valid South African driver’s license (Code B).
- Comfortable with fieldwork in various weather conditions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Familiarity with GIS platforms like QGIS and ArcGIS.
- Understanding of water quality parameters like TDS, pH, nutrients, and E. coli.
- Knowledge of hydrological and water quality modelling tools.
- Basic to advanced Excel and statistical analysis capabilities.
- Awareness of South African environmental legislation, including the National Water Act (NWA) and National Environmental Management Act (NEMA).
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and analyse surface and groundwater samples.
- Use manual and automated systems to monitor water quality.
- Support hydrological model development and calibration.
- Clean, interpret, and manage environmental data using GIS tools.
- Conduct land use impact assessments and pollution trend analysis.
- Contribute to technical reports and attend stakeholder meetings.
