Rand Water Graduate Programme in Environmental Science

About the Role
The role focuses on ensuring the protection of raw water quality in critical catchment areas through scientific data collection, environmental assessments, and GIS-based analysis. Skills & Requirements

- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Familiarity with GIS platforms like QGIS and ArcGIS.
- Understanding of water quality parameters like TDS, pH, nutrients, and E. coli.
- Knowledge of hydrological and water quality modelling tools.
- Basic to advanced Excel and statistical analysis capabilities.
- Awareness of South African environmental legislation, including the National Water Act (NWA) and National Environmental Management Act (NEMA).
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and analyse surface and groundwater samples.
- Use manual and automated systems to monitor water quality.
- Support hydrological model development and calibration.
- Clean, interpret, and manage environmental data using GIS tools.
- Conduct land use impact assessments and pollution trend analysis.
- Contribute to technical reports and attend stakeholder meetings.
