About the Role
As a Fire Fighter in Training at Sasol, your core purpose will be to help protect the company’s people, assets, and environment from potential safety, health, environment, risk, and quality (SHERQ) incidents. This role is designed to prepare you for fast, effective response during emergencies while developing your skills in real-time scenarios.
You’ll take part in scheduled physical and mental training programs, ensure emergency response equipment is always ready, and follow SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) best practices during all incidents. You’ll also be involved in preparedness drills, safety suggestions, and improvement projects, helping you grow in both technical and leadership aspects of emergency management.

Skills & Requirements
- Minimum Education: Grade 12 with Mathematical Literacy or equivalent
- Medical Fitness: You must pass a fire fighter fitness assessment
- Preferred Certifications (Optional):
- NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter 1 & 2
- HPCSA Registered – BAA (Basic Life Support) or ILS (Intermediate Life Support)
- NFPA 1072/472 – Awareness & Operations
- Experience: 0 to 5 years in a related field (training or voluntary roles are acceptable)
- Key Competencies: Problem-solving, execution capability, teamwork, and self-mastery
