About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical issues, and conducting repairs on a variety of bakery and packaging machinery. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Foreman, the Mechanical Fitter plays a key role in maintaining production uptime and ensuring machinery runs smoothly. This includes working on mixers, dividers, proofers, oven burners, and more. The position also includes mentoring apprentices, being part of the on-call rotation, and supporting projects and installations as needed.

- Knowledge of steam and waterline systems
- Basic electrical experience (advantageous)
- Ability to work systematically and independently
- Good communication and reporting skills
- Willingness to work standby and rotate on callouts
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimize machinery downtime
- Rebuild and service bakery and packaging equipment
- Inspect and replace belts, bearings, filters, and more as per CMMS (Onkey)
- Ensure compliance with food safety and health and safety standards
- Assemble and repair steam, plumbing, and mechanical systems
- Diagnose and correct mechanical faults
- Mentor apprentices and junior staff
- Record all maintenance and repair work performed
- Support projects and machine installations
