About the Role

Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma in Conservation or NQF Level 6 equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience in protected area conservation
- At least 3 years of experience supervising field ranger teams
- Code 08 Driver’s License (PDP is an added advantage)
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Project management and liaison abilities
- Physically fit and capable of working long, irregular hours
- Clear criminal record (checks will be conducted)
- Ability to communicate in Afrikaans is essential
- Knowledge of PFMA Act
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Conservation
- Previous leadership roles in a protected area
Key Responsibilities
- Manage alien species control, soil erosion, and rehabilitation
- Monitor developments within and around the park
- Engage with stakeholders, communities, NGOs, and conservation bodies
- Oversee budgets, financial records, and expenditure
- Supervise interns, volunteers, and contractors
- Implement and uphold conservation legislation and policy
- Facilitate research projects and record environmental data
- Handle human resource management and staff development
- Manage visitor safety, interpretation, and information sharing
- Maintain park infrastructure including roads, signage, and buildings
- Care for cultural and historic areas in your section
- Ensure compliance with audit requirements such as OHS, METT, and SOB
