About the Role
In this role, you will carry out a range of mechanical tasks — from routine maintenance to full repairs — based on workshop job cards. You’ll diagnose issues, complete services according to the manufacturer’s standards, and ensure all mechanical systems are restored to working order. This includes both scheduled tasks and responding to emergency breakdowns.
Key Responsibilities
- Visually inspect vehicles and run diagnostics before starting repairs
- Review and understand workshop job cards before starting work
- Follow flat rate guidelines for repairs and tasks
- Attend to breakdowns during and outside of office hours
- Sign off completed job cards and log parts used (e.g. engine oils)
- Set up service bays with the necessary tools and parts
- Carry out maintenance according to manufacturers’ specs and schedules
- Inspect, calibrate, and adjust vehicle systems as needed
- Identify any damage or wear and suggest additional work if needed
- Reset vehicle maintenance systems after service
- Handle dismantled parts and return those eligible for reconditioning
- Replace broken parts with new or refurbished components
- Use testing tools to confirm the vehicle is roadworthy and reliable
- Maintain professional conduct and proper dress code
- Keep your work area clean and follow health and safety standards
