About the Role

Skills & Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12) or NQF Level 4 equivalent qualification
- SAMTRAC, COMSOC, or NOSA Certification
- 5 years of experience in a similar safety role within mining
- Valid driver’s licence (Code B, EB, or C1)
- Legal Liability Training
- Familiarity with the OHS Act 85 of 1993 and Mine Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996
- Computer literacy in MS Office
- Report writing and presentation skills
- A trade certificate is advantageous
- ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 training are beneficial
Job Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain the Safety Risk Management System on site
- Ensure legal compliance and enforce safety regulations
- Validate all legal appointments as per legislative requirements
- Conduct plant and equipment inspections and report on findings
- Oversee all SHEQ-related activities and documentation
- Manage sub-contractors and ensure compliance to contractor packs
- Handle incidents involving injuries or ill health, and conduct investigations
- Submit accurate reports to internal and external stakeholders
- Participate in audits and manage non-conformances
- Control site access if required
