About the Role
As an Artisan, your primary responsibility will be to handle bodywork repairs on a variety of vehicles. This includes everything from stripping and assembling to fabricating new parts and modifying vehicles as needed. You’ll be a key player in ensuring the safety, durability, and appearance of the municipality’s fleet vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Strip and assemble vehicle cabs and rear bodies
- Remove and replace windscreens and windows
- Set doors and window frames properly
- Perform gas and arc welding for repairs
- Fabricate sheet metal and custom parts
- Join, grind, and file metal panels
- Fit windows using rubber glazing methods
- De-rust and clean vehicles and equipment
- Design and build new vehicle bodies
- Carry out minor electrical and mechanical repairs
- Repair air pressure and hydraulic door mechanisms

Skills & Requirements
- Trade-tested Artisan (Body Builder, Panel Beater, or Automotive Body Repairer)
- Valid Code EC driving license
- Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant post-apprenticeship experience
- 4 years’ experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of workplace safety and quality standards
- Effective communication and planning skills
- Self-motivated and accountable work attitude
