About the Role
The Field Ranger position is crucial in maintaining the ecological integrity of Meerkat National Park. The successful candidate will report directly to the Ranger Corporal and take on daily responsibilities that include law enforcement, anti-poaching patrols, wildlife monitoring, and assisting in fire management and research activities.
This is not a desk job. You’ll be out in the field, involved in real-time decision-making that impacts the park’s ecosystems and safety of its wildlife and visitors.

Minimum Requirements

- Clear criminal record (may be requested)
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic or Advanced Field Ranger qualification
- Firearm competency certificate

- Familiarity with Meerkat National Park or surrounding areas
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and manage environmental data using electronic devices
- Assist researchers and support park-based studies
- Conduct patrols and support anti-poaching operations
- Maintain law and order for staff, guests, and visitors
- Assist with biodiversity management, fire control, and alien plant clearing
- Carry out game counts, game capturing, and culling when required
- Perform safety inspections and adhere to OHS practices
- Support visitor management and park security operations
