Vaal Central Water is looking for a skilled and motivated IT Technician to join their Information Systems Unit based in Bloemfontein, Free State. This permanent role offers a fantastic opportunity for entry-level IT professionals to gain hands-on experience while supporting vital utility systems.
What the Job Is About
As an IT Technician, you will support hardware and software systems, provide troubleshooting and training for staff, maintain inventory, and ensure compliance with IT and safety policies. The role includes both remote and onsite support and requires collaboration with vendors to resolve technical issues.

Skills Requirements
- National Diploma in IT or equivalent qualification
- At least 2 years’ experience in IT support roles
- Experience with Microsoft Office/Office 365, Outlook, Windows 11 and earlier
- Experience in desktop support and first- and second-line support
- Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and network systems
- Report writing and problem-solving capabilities
- Valid Driver’s License required
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve IT system, peripheral, and network issues
- Respond to helpdesk queries promptly
- Train employees on IT programs, cyber security, and best practices
- Create and maintain an internal knowledge base
- Maintain hardware, software, mobile devices, and VOIP systems
- Document all technical issues and system configurations
- Monitor performance of IT systems and networks
- Ensure full compliance with IT policies and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Liaise with external vendors to resolve technical challenges
