Introduction
Tolcon is seeking a dedicated and qualified Health & Safety Officer for a permanent position at the Huguenot Tunnel and Toll Plaza in Paarl, Western Cape. This vital role ensures that workplace safety standards are met and maintained across operations.
What the Job Is About
As the Health & Safety Officer, you will be responsible for implementing and monitoring all safety procedures, regulations, and documentation. You’ll work closely with the Operations Manager and contractors to ensure full compliance with occupational health and construction safety standards.
Who Should Apply
This role is ideal for experienced safety professionals in the construction sector. Candidates must be SACPCMP-registered and comfortable working independently and within a team structure. A valid driver’s license and the ability to work on-site are essential.
Skills Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- National Diploma in Safety Management
- Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (NQF Level 5)
- Registered with SACPCMP as Safety Officer (or higher)
- Registration with SAIOSH or IOSH is a plus
- 3–5 years experience in construction health & safety roles
- Knowledge of Contractor Management and Auditing (Section 37.2)
- Excellent MS Office skills – especially Outlook, Word & Excel
- Valid unendorsed Code 08 driver’s license
- Occupational Medical Certificate (fit for duty)
