Fitter and Turner Job in Johannesburg – Apply Now at Rand Water

Rand Water is hiring a qualified Fitter and Turner for its Zwartkopjes site in JHB South. This is a permanent opportunity for skilled trade professionals experienced in mechanical maintenance and machining.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical plant equipment. This includes scheduled inspections, machining components, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / N3 Certificate
• Trade Certificate in Fitting and Turning
• At least 3 years’ experience in pump maintenance
• Machine Turning experience is essential
• Knowledge of laser alignment (motors, bearings, couplings)
• Valid EB driver’s license and ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 test

Primary Duties

• Plan and perform daily tasks safely
• Conduct scheduled maintenance and inspections
• Overhaul pumps, motors, and mechanical components
• Operate workshop machinery (grinding, milling, machining)
• Perform flame cutting and welding
• Inspect safety equipment
• Complete job cards, reports, and time sheets
• Rigging and handling equipment failures
• Work standby shifts and unplanned overtime when required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of the Fitting and Turning trade
• Familiarity with OHS Act
• Technical drawing interpretation
• Problem-solving and analytical skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
