Are you an experienced Safety Officer looking to grow your career in the mining industry? Seriti is hiring for a Senior Safety Officer at its New Vaal Colliery in the Free State.
This is a great opportunity for someone with strong health and safety knowledge who wants to help keep people safe in a mining environment.
About the Role
As a Senior Safety Officer, your duties will include:
- Monitor and analyze safety, health, and environment (SHE) systems.
- Help reduce safety risks and hazards in the workplace.
- Ensure the mine follows all health and safety laws and standards.
- Oversee risk assessments and make sure safety reports and meetings are finished.
- Train and support employees to improve safety awareness.
- Report findings to managers and assist in creating action plans.
Minimum Requirements
To apply, you must have:
- National Diploma in Safety Management (or close to completing it with at least 10 subjects done)
- At least 3 years of mining experience in health and safety
- 1 year of experience in middle management
- Knowledge of mining laws such as the Mine Health and Safety Act
- Experience with incident investigations (LFI) and risk management
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Valid driver’s license
- Certificate of Fitness or ability to obtain one
Bonus Qualifications (Advantageous)
The following will be beneficial:
- Trade qualification or Mine Overseer certificate
- Blasting Certificate
- COMSOC 1 and 2
- Experience in engineering, metallurgy, or mining
- ISO 45001 Lead Auditor or ICAM Investigation Lead/Facilitator
