Who Can Apply for the Implats Bursary?
All South African matric students can apply if they meet the following minimum criteria:
- A university exemption pass
- At least 60% (Rating Code 5) in:
- Mathematics
- Physical Science
- English
What the Implats Bursary Covers
Implats offers a full bursary that includes:
- The cost of registration and tuition for the entire course
- Residence fees (student housing)
- A yearly cash allowance
- A personal computer allowance (from second year of study)
Fields of Study Covered by the Bursary
You can apply if you want to study in one of these fields:
- Engineering
- Mining
- Metallurgy
- Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
- Chemistry (up to Honours level)
- Geology (up to Honours level)
- Accounting (up to Honours level)
- Survey
- Human Resources (BCom up to Honours level)
What You Agree To If You Are Awarded the Bursary
If you receive the bursary, you will:
- Put in the same number of years at Implats as your bursary.
- Do vacation work at Implats each year
Important Dates and Notes
- Applications close on 30 September
- No late or incomplete applications will be accepted
- Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 30 days after the closing date
- Preliminary interviews will be held at Implats’ Rustenburg operations in North West Province
