This apprenticeship opportunity will allow you to gain hands-on experience and work towards a nationally recognized qualification.
Job Overview
As part of the apprenticeship, you will undergo employment, exposure, and training in various sections of the factory. The program lasts approximately 29 weeks, with training and mini trade tests to assess your progress. Upon successful completion, you will be prepared for a final trade test, ultimately leading to a formal Millwright qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Training & Development
- Complete training in different factory sections
- Participate in a Mini Trade Test at the end of each year
- Final trade test to earn a nationally recognized qualification
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Repair equipment failures and restore functionality
- Perform preventative maintenance, including daily machine inspections
- Conduct root cause analysis to prevent future failures
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure that all equipment is safe before starting work
- Adhere to safety regulations and use safety equipment at all times
- Documentation
- Complete job cards in a timely manner and capture all relevant information
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 with at least an N2 qualification or NCV Level 3 (N3 and above is an advantage)
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical tools, as well as production line operation
- Basic knowledge of fitting and engineering drawings
- N3 qualifications should include:
- Mathematics
- Engineering Science
- Industrial Electronics
- Electrical Trade Theory
- Fitting and Machining or Mechanical Technology
Additional Skills & Requirements
- Valid EB/Code 8 Driver’s License
- Computer literacy (MS Office Suite)
- Ability to work shifts, overtime, and handle call-outs
- Ability to operate in cramped areas and at heights
- Knowledge of health and safety standards relevant to the field of work
