Mechanical Assistant Pre-Learners x10 (12-Month Programme) position available in Middelburg, South Africa
Are you a recent Grade 12 graduate passionate about heavy machinery and looking for a hands-on opportunity in the mechanical field? We're hiring 10 Pre-Learner Mechanical Assistants for a 12-month full-time program in Middelburg, South Africa.
Key Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Assistant, you'll work closely with skilled technicians and gain real-world experience. Your tasks will include:
- Helping inspect heavy earthmoving equipment
- Assisting with maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting
- Supporting removal and installation of machine components (in workshop and on-site)
- Helping order necessary mechanical parts
- Assisting with admin tasks: service reports, labor logs, expense tracking, etc.
- Supporting the compilation of Machine Inspection Reports (MIR) and analysis
- Maintaining a clean workspace and helping with general duties
- Providing excellent support to customers and team members
Minimum Requirements
To apply, you must meet these education and skill requirements:
- Grade 12 or N3 with:
- Pure Mathematics – minimum 45%
- Physical Science – minimum 45%
- English – minimum 45%
- N2 or N3 with relevant technical theory (Motor/Diesel, Electrical/Electronics) is a plus
- Technicians for The World certificate is an advantage
- Code B Learner’s License is an added benefit
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English clearly
- Must have good math and problem-solving skills
