AECI Property Services is offering an apprenticeship opportunity for an Instrument Mechanician at its Umbogintwini site in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
Job Purpose
This apprenticeship is designed to help you gain practical and theoretical skills to become a fully qualified Instrument Mechanician. You will work closely with experienced Artisans and Technicians on real equipment and systems used in industrial process plants.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn and apply skills in your trade through structured training.
- Attend formal training, assessments, and practical workplace sessions.
- Maintain your logbook and track your progress.
- Assist in maintaining, repairing, and optimizing plant instruments and devices.
- Support with installing and testing new equipment like DCS and SCADA systems.
- Follow all safety, health, and environmental rules.
- Work with power and hand tools effectively.
- Understand cable layouts, circuits, and industrial instrumentation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Matric/Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science.
- N3 qualification (required to write your trade test).
- A valid driver’s license is a plus.
- Must be able to pass a medical check to work in a chemical environment.
- Basic knowledge of how industrial plants work and the importance of maintenance.
