Job Description:
SGS is seeking motivated candidates to join their team in Durban. As an intern, you will assist with various tasks, including site clean-up, laboratory work, and field sampling. You will also be responsible for adhering to SGS’s strict quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean up the site/workshop after the task is completed or by the end of the day.
- Ensure that the work area is free of consumables like masking tapes, tins, and other materials used.
- Report any deviations, irregularities, or non-conformities to the site supervisor.
- Assist with field and laboratory work, including sampling, calculations, and performing tests accurately.
- Adhere to all SGS quality and safety management protocols.
- Support your assigned department by maintaining discipline and performing other tasks as directed by your supervisor.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum Education: Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science.
- Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
- Age: 18-30 years old.
- South African Citizenship (must provide a valid South African ID).
- Currently Unemployed and have not participated in a YES (Youth Employment Service) program before.
- No Criminal Record.
- Willingness to relocate to Durban, if necessary.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Attention to Detail: Ability to work with high accuracy, especially in data analysis.
- Organizational Skills: Strong ability to organize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated: A high level of initiative and a proactive approach to tasks.
