Job Overview
As a Level 1 Apprentice, you will be responsible for providing technical and diagnostic support within the service department. You will work closely with other team members to ensure the efficient servicing of commercial vehicles. Your duties will include fault diagnosis, vehicle servicing, and advising apprentices and colleagues on repair techniques.
You will also have the opportunity to use modern diagnostic equipment, interpret results, and assist customers with service details when necessary.
Key Responsibilities

Fault Diagnosis: Carry out diagnostic checks and fault diagnosis to aid and speed up vehicle servicing.

Diagnostic Equipment: Ensure that diagnostic equipment is used accurately during vehicle examinations.

Quality Control: Ensure that vehicles are serviced in compliance with DCSA procedures and policies. Ensure printouts and documentation are kept.

Customer Satisfaction: Accurately diagnose faults and provide clear, easy-to-understand explanations to customers.

Vehicle Care: Co-operate with the team to ensure the proper care and safety of vehicles.

Breakdown Assistance: Attend to breakdown calls as required and assist with repairs.

Work Efficiency: Ensure that comebacks (return repairs) are minimized and provide cost-effective solutions for vehicle faults.

Training: Attend training courses provided by MBSA and Cargo Motors.
Specific Responsibilities

Ensure vehicles are returned to customers clean and in excellent condition after service.

Properly sign for all parts from the parts department, ensuring they are used on the relevant vehicle.

Return unused parts to the parts department.

Provide advice to ensure quality service while also being time-efficient.

Maintain a clean and tidy work area and use the appropriate safety gear.

Complete all necessary documentation, including job cards, and hand them over to the service advisor promptly.

Participate in special promotions and campaigns as required.
Qualifications and Experience

Educational Requirements:

Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science

N2 qualifications in Engineering Science, Technical Drawing, Mathematics, and Motor Trade Theory

Experience: Previous experience or an interest in the automotive industry is beneficial, but not required.
