Job Overview:
Minopex is currently seeking an Engineering Assistant for a project-based fixed-term position at their Gamsberg site near Aggeneys in the Northern Cape. The role is focused on assisting with engineering maintenance activities and general housekeeping under the guidance of the artisan or engineering supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manual Support: Assist with lifting, holding, positioning, and supporting materials and parts during maintenance work, using appropriate tools.
- Component Dismantling and Reassembly: Help with dismantling and re-assembling engineering components as per instructions.
- Material Handling: Load and offload materials and parts onto and from transport vehicles.
- Housekeeping: Carry out general housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and tidy work environment.
- Installation and Breakdown Assistance: Support installations and breakdowns under the supervision of the artisan or engineering supervisor.
- Observation Role: Monitor equipment and machinery during specific tasks, such as checking for leaks or fire risks, as instructed by supervisors.
Qualification and Experience Requirements:
- Education: A minimum of Grade 12.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience within the mining industry is preferred but not essential.
- Skills:
- Knowledge of workplace safety and procedures.
- Proficient in English communication.
- Strong time management skills.
