Gold One Group Limited, a leading company in the mining and metals industry, is currently hiring for the position of Assistant Electrical at their Modder East division. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to start or advance their careers in electrical engineering, particularly in a mining environment.
Job Overview:
As an Assistant Electrical, you will work alongside experienced artisans to assist in the maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment. This is an entry-level position, ideal for candidates with a passion for electrical engineering and a desire to learn in a dynamic mining environment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Grade 11 or equivalent qualification
- N2 in Engineering Studies in Electrical will be advantageous
- 1-2 years of experience in Electrical Engineering within a mining or industrial environment
- Proficient in English (additional languages are a bonus)
- Capacity to operate in tight spaces and at heights
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Studying towards an Electrical Engineering Trade is a plus
- South African Citizenship required
- Must have a clear criminal record
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist artisans in completing their tasks efficiently
- Carry and maintain tools, hand tools, and other equipment
- Disassemble and reassemble electrical components using hand tools
- Thread and secure conduit ends, fabricate brackets, and manage conduit support using tools
- Check electrical units for damaged insulation and loose connections.
- Ensure safety standards are met, following the MHSA standards and Gold One’s safety motto: “Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely.”
- Adhere to mine standards, procedures, and safety practices
