Sappi Southern Africa is hiring! We're looking for a passionate Artisan Assistant to join our team at the Ngodwana Mill. If you're eager to contribute to maintaining and enhancing equipment, ensuring safety, and supporting the smooth running of operations, this is the job for you!
Key Responsibilities:
As an Artisan Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the execution of maintenance tasks and assisting experienced Artisans with more complex duties. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Maintenance and Repairs: Assist with the maintenance, repair, and overhauling of equipment in air-conditioning, electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation workshops.
- Safety Compliance: Obtain a license as an “authorized workman” in line with Sappi’s lockout procedure. Assist with the isolation process when required.
- Waste Management: Follow all legislation and guidelines regarding the safe handling, sorting, and disposal of waste in the correct waste streams.
- Tool Use & Maintenance: Select and use tools correctly and maintain them in good working condition.
- Mobile Equipment: Obtain licenses to operate various mobile equipment used at Ngodwana Mill.
- Breakdowns and Maintenance: Help Artisans during breakdowns and scheduled maintenance tasks, performing duties that match your skill level.
- Workplace Safety: Ensure a safe working environment by contributing to safety measures and housekeeping efforts.
- Regulatory Compliance: Make sure all activities comply with relevant statutory requirements.
What We Are Looking For:
To apply for this position, you should meet the following qualifications and skills:
- Education: Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science or an N3 Engineering Science NQF L4 qualification.
- Driving License: A valid driving license is required.
- Commitment to Safety: Understanding and commitment to following safety procedures.
- Team Player: Ability to work well in a team and assist Artisans effectively.
