General Requirements to Apply
Applicants must fulfill the following requirements in order to be eligible for the MSDS program:
- South African Citizen: No dual citizenship allowed.
- Age:
- 18–22 years (for Grade 12 applicants).
- 18–26 years (for applicants with a tertiary qualification or N6).
- Completed Grade 12.
- Admission Point Score (APS): A minimum APS of 17, excluding Life Orientation (LO).
- No Criminal Record: You must have no pending criminal cases or a history of criminal activity.
- Medical Fitness: Applicants must meet medical fitness standards for appointments.
- No Visible Tattoos: Tattoos on the legs, lower arms, neck, and face are not permitted.
Additional Physical Requirements
Height:
- Females: Minimum height of 148 cm.
- Males: Minimum height of 155 cm.
Weight:
- Females: Minimum weight of 48 kg.
- Males: Minimum weight of 52 kg.
Body Mass Index (BMI):
- Females: BMI between 18.5 and 30.
- Males: BMI between 19 and 30.
Medical and Evaluation Process
Applicants will undergo the following evaluations:
- Drug Testing: All applicants will be tested for drugs.
- Psychometric Testing: Psychological evaluation to assess your readiness for military training.
- Medical Evaluation: To ensure that you are fit for service.
- Criminal Record Verification: You must not have a criminal record.
- Qualification Verification: Verification of your educational background.
