Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum Education: Grade 11 or equivalent qualification.
- Experience: 1-2 years in Boilermaking within a mining or industrial environment is a must.
- Skills: Proficient in English and at least one other of South Africa’s 11 official languages.
- Knowledge: Any prior knowledge in Boilermaking will be an advantage.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Other: Clear criminal record, good verbal communication skills, and South African citizenship.
Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant Boilermaker, you’ll be assisting the Artisan(s) with daily tasks while learning and gaining experience. Your duties will include:
- Support: Assisting artisans by providing tools, equipment, and any other required items.
- Tool Management: Keeping all hand tools and equipment in good condition and securely stored.
- Housekeeping: Ensuring good housekeeping in and around the Boilermaker shop.
- Health and Safety: Adhering to Gold One’s safety standards and the Mining Health and Safety Act (MHSA). Gold One’s motto is “Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely.”
- Shift Work: You will be working on a cycle or rotation of shifts to ensure smooth operation.
