A short description of the job opportunity:

We have a great opportunity for unemployed youth to work as merchandisers in our sales department for Clover. You will receive 12 months of work experience through this program. You will work at various Clover branches, including Queensburgh, Clayville, Bloemfontein, and CDC Cape Town. Clover is happy to team up with the YES program to help provide chances for young people in South Africa. We aim to make things better for the benefit of everyone.

What do you need?

  • Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification (NQF Level 4)
  • Fluent in English for business communication.
  • Must be willing to work on shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Job tasks and duties:

Manage stock levels and place orders:
  • Use proper stock control methods both in-store and in the backup area where Clover products are stored.
  • Manage, reduce, and record returns according to the store's plan.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with store management, the customers, the area manager, Head Office, and fellow merchandisers.
  • Always avoid running out of stock and report any shortages to the area manager.
  • Ensure proper handling and control of cargo and equipment according to company guidelines.
  • Keep products clean and organized on the shelves at all times.
  • Place accurate and timely orders based on the store's ordering schedule.
Follow the store and shelf guidelines to ensure proper product placement:
  • Keep the fridge clean and well-maintained at all times.
  • Ensure that the shelf layout matches the provided plans or standard shelf arrangement.
  • Display point-of-sale materials in the designated areas and keep them updated.
  • Organize shelves according to the store's flow plan provided by the area manager, following basic merchandising rules.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records as required.
  • Look for opportunities in the store to improve product visibility and presence on the shelves.
  • Make sure the product labels (PI) are always visible and correctly placed.

Build and keep strong business relationships. Maintain positive connections with store management, area manager, head office, customers, and other merchandisers at all times.
