We are currently seeking a Millwright to join our team at the Harrismith Factory. The Millwright will oversee the installation, maintenance, and improvement of electrical and mechanical devices.  Make sure the machinery runs efficiently and safely by setting and adjusting devices within the allowed limits.

What a Millwright’s day looks like:

  • Perform the required admin tasks for AMM, SHE, CDM, and MDWT.
  • Work closely with production, suppliers, and contract workers.
  • Providing coaching and support to technical operators and apprentices.
  • Carry out the necessary maintenance work on the plant.
  • The person in this role must be proactive in preventing breakdowns during patrols and take steps to improve equipment performance through condition-based maintenance.
  • Work on installing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment, both existing and new.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical breakdowns in the factory.
  • Diagnose and fix basic problems with PLCs and SCADA systems.
  • Handle programming and problem-solving for VSDs and soft starters.
  • Handle programming and fault detection for defined instrumentation and calibration.
  • Analyze repetitive faults, determine their cause, and take corrective action.
  • Manage 'Continuous Improvement' teams to improve the reliability and performance of equipment.

At Lindsay Saker Audi Sandton, selected candidates will receive a mix of on-the-job training and classroom education under the supervision of a certified mechanic. Theoretical education is provided by Motus Technical Training Academy (MTTA) in the classroom.

Core Duties of the Job:

The contract will include a CBMT agreement with merSETA and a learnership contract with Lindsay Saker Audi Sandton, both with their respective terms and conditions. The CBMT Apprentice will be paid according to the minimum wages set by MIBCO.

Apprenticeship Training:

  • 4-year contract covering Levels 1 to 4.
  • Attend 5 days of training at MTTA every 5 weeks.
  • CDX is a distance learning program that enhances apprenticeship training with online demonstrations, quizzes, and practical exercises for study at work and home.
