Job Overview:

We are currently seeking a Millwright to join our team at the Harrismith Factory. The Millwright will oversee the installation, maintenance, and improvement of electrical and mechanical devices. Make sure the machinery runs efficiently and safely by setting and adjusting devices within the allowed limits.
What a Millwright’s day looks like:
- Perform the required admin tasks for AMM, SHE, CDM, and MDWT.
- Work closely with production, suppliers, and contract workers.
- Providing coaching and support to technical operators and apprentices.
- Carry out the necessary maintenance work on the plant.
- The person in this role must be proactive in preventing breakdowns during patrols and take steps to improve equipment performance through condition-based maintenance.
- Work on installing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment, both existing and new.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical breakdowns in the factory.
- Diagnose and fix basic problems with PLCs and SCADA systems.
- Handle programming and problem-solving for VSDs and soft starters.
- Handle programming and fault detection for defined instrumentation and calibration.
- Analyze repetitive faults, determine their cause, and take corrective action.
- Manage 'Continuous Improvement' teams to improve the reliability and performance of equipment.
- Strive to deliver work at a high standard.
- Ensure machines are ready for use to meet production goals.
- Available to work shifts, standby, and overtime as required by the company.
- Electrical panels should be securely locked, closed, and maintained in a clean condition with all wiring diagrams.
- Always follow Safe Working Permit procedures, such as for confined spaces, working at heights, hot work, LOTO, etc.
- Make sure to fix any dangerous situations right away.
- Make sure food safety is always maintained during work.

What is required to succeed in this job or in getting hired?
- Certificate of Completion for Millwright Trade Test.
- Understanding of the basics of PLCs.
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in electrical and mechanical work.
- Preference will be given to those with a certificate of registration as an Installation Electrician.

Details of the Job:
At Lindsay Saker Audi Sandton, selected candidates will receive a mix of on-the-job training and classroom education under the supervision of a certified mechanic. Theoretical education is provided by Motus Technical Training Academy (MTTA) in the classroom.
Core Duties of the Job:
The contract will include a CBMT agreement with merSETA and a learnership contract with Lindsay Saker Audi Sandton, both with their respective terms and conditions. The CBMT Apprentice will be paid according to the minimum wages set by MIBCO.
Apprenticeship Training:
- 4-year contract covering Levels 1 to 4.
- Attend 5 days of training at MTTA every 5 weeks.
- CDX is a distance learning program that enhances apprenticeship training with online demonstrations, quizzes, and practical exercises for study at work and home.
- Tests and exams are conducted on a computer.
- Skill-based performance testing or practical skills exams.
- The Motor Industry Bargaining Council (MIBCO) Is The organization that sets wages in the motor industry.
- The Service Department at Lindsay Saker Audi Centre Sandton offers on-the-job training that matches the skills gained in the CBMT program. Collect proof to finish your portfolio as required by ITTA. Partner with a technician to understand how to perform maintenance and repairs as per the original manufacturer's guidelines. Finish your evidence portfolio by helping to inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles alongside a qualified technician.
Skills and Background:
The following qualifications are necessary for the applicant to be considered:
- Matric including Mathematics and Physical Science, or N2 with Mathematics, Engineering Science, and English (minimum 50% required).
- Driver’s license is needed
- Ability to use a computer
- The applicant will need to complete and pass a mechanical understanding test.
- Background checks will be conducted on the applicant before proceeding further. A medical assessment will be conducted to determine the applicant's ability to work.
