AFGRI Farmer Development (AFD) offers an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in agriculture. The 2025 Learnership Programme is designed to help learners gain hands-on experience in farming, specifically working with crops and animals. This program lasts for twelve months, allowing participants to learn important skills that are valuable in the agricultural field.
At Vastfontein Farm in Pretoria North, successful candidates will receive training both on the job and off the job. This means learners will work alongside experienced professionals, learning the practical aspects of farming while also receiving classroom instruction. This combination of training helps prepare them for future careers in agriculture.
AFGRI encourages applications from all individuals, but particularly welcomes those from historically disadvantaged communities. This is part of our commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We believe that everyone deserves a chance to succeed, and we aim to create opportunities for those who may have faced challenges in the past.
To be eligible for this learnership, applicants must meet certain requirements. You must be a South African citizen and have completed Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification. Preference will be given to women and people with disabilities, as part of our focus on empowering underrepresented groups. Additionally, candidates must be unemployed at the time of application.
