The ARC-Tropical and Subtropical Crops (ARC-TSC) is looking to hire a skilled and experienced person for a job in Addo.
Job Responsibilities:
- General building maintenance tasks include fixing plumbing, bricklaying, plastering, painting, and doing basic electrical work.
- Help with any administrative tasks in the unit.
- Follow safety rules and regulations.
- Strong communication skills.
- Capable of doing regular tasks.
- Strong people skills.
Minimum Entry Requirements:
- Grade 12 or Matric certificate.
- 1 to 2 years of related experience.
- You need to have a valid driver's license.

- Launch and oversee studies on molecular markers in fruit trees found in tropical and subtropical regions.
- Write articles or give presentations on research findings that will be useful to the scientific community, industry, and growers of tropical fruits.
- Lead by example and mentor research assistants, students, and technicians.
- Provide instruments for marker-assisted selection and molecular breeding in fruit trees.
- Communicate with growers, industry technical officers, and federal, state, and local authorities.
Requirements
- PhD in molecular biology or plant biotechnology.
- three years of relevant experience working in a scientific research setting on plant molecular markers.
- thorough understanding of plant molecular biology and plant biotechnology, with a focus on molecular marker technologies.
- a track record of at least three peer-reviewed scientific publications and presentations at symposiums and conferences.
- An extra benefit will be membership in a scientific or professional organization.
- a track record of national collaboration.
- a track record of effectively supervising and mentoring students and researchers.
- a track record of accomplishments in operational and strategic planning.
- command of the Microsoft Office suite.
- Drivers license with code EB.
