Key Responsibilities of a Petroleum Tanker Driver
As a Petroleum Tanker Driver, you will be responsible for:
Preparing Vehicles for Trips: Before hitting the road, you’ll ensure that all necessary checks are conducted to guarantee the vehicle’s safety and roadworthiness.
Operating Ultra Heavy-Duty Vehicles: You'll operate vehicles with a gross vehicle mass exceeding 25,000kg, requiring specialized skills and attention to detail.
Vehicle Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of the tanker before and after trips to identify any issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Handling Documentation: Efficiently manage all documentation related to deliveries, including paperwork from dispatch to the customer and back to the distribution center.

Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the Petroleum Tanker Driver position at Unitrans, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Either Grade 10 / NQF Level 2 or Grade 12 / Matric / NQF Level 4.
- Licensing: A valid Code EC PrDP, with a “D” endorsement if required for Dangerous Goods (DG) vehicles.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years as a petroleum driver, demonstrating a safe driving record.
- Background: A clean criminal record, ensuring trustworthiness and reliability in handling hazardous materials.
